Come along to our photo sessions to dust off your camera and get snap-happy with a professional photography instructor.

Brush up on your camera skills and learn new photography techniques whilst on a photo walk class with other local keen photographers!

We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations in Spokane .

  • New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month. And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

  • Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

  • What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

Join the Spokane Photography Group on Facebook to share your photos after the session.

I thought it was excellent. The instructor was very knowledgeable and kind. I was introduced to the world of manual settings on my camera. Now it is up to me.

It was great! I'm a hands-on learner, and things make a lot more sense when I'm flipping dials and looking at the results, then changing something, and looking at the results, and learning by doing. Also, having the class i a real-world setting was great for adjusting to things that would not be present in a classroom, like varying light conditions, backgrounds, distances from subject, etc. It was very helpful and very fun! 3 hours was just right too. Gave us time to talk before hand and learn some tips for not only taking photos, but being prepared, being safe on the sidelines, and respectful and responsible towards players, coaches, refs, and more. That was great information, too.

I just attended my first Spokane Street Photography Meetup hosted by Jimmy Matlosz and it was an awesome street photography experience. A cool 2-hour route through the downtown river front park area and nearby urban spots. We took some candid street portraits, gritty long lens shots up busy streets full of character and some architectural shots. The group of 6 counting Jimmy was welcoming and diverse, with zero gatekeeping, genuine encouragement, quick practical tips on zone focusing, daytime camera settings, approaching strangers respectfully, and low-light settings, plus plenty of free shooting time to capture Spokane?s unique vibe. I left with three new techniques I?m already using. If you?re in Spokane and want to level up your street photography while meeting cool, creative people, this group led by Jimmy is 10/10?highly recommend signing up for the next one! ? stan

It was really fun, and my son and I appreciated the handout, and learning the terminology that is needed to get us started. Plus, Mark was super interesting, and very knowledgeable, and he made the class very enjoyable.

I found this poor dragonfly on the ground. He was moving but couldn't fly so I carefully picked him up, snapped a pic and then put him safely on a tree.

I normally shoot ?photography? with a Sony a6000, but on this August afternoon at 4:37pm I was on a social visit with friends who had gorgeous dahlias in their backyard. Using what I had with me, I took this photo with my iPhone XR. I held the lenses about 6 inches from the bloom. The only post-processing was use of a few sliders on Apple Photos. 26mm f1.8

This image is a Still Life Composition of "Berries, Wine and Grapes" that I created on a rainy day in my bedroom. I used no fancy Studio Lighting at all. My only light source was a hand-held flashlight that I kept moving rapidly. It was an experiment in Light Painting when I couldn't go outside to shoot.
